• He completely went against the NORM for his day.
• He totally took a stand to treat women the way God always intended
and not the way men, culture and society treated them.
• He met with a sinful woman by herself and talked with her and she
was a Samaritan.
• He allowed women to touch him, especially women that were
considered as unclean (divorcees, adulterers, an issue of blood and
totally unacceptable by the religious people).
• He highlighted women for their heart attitudes (women that put
one penny in the offering).
• He took women out of the gender restrictions that men had put them
under.
• He allowed women to sit at his feet and just learn as his disciples.
• People that would never have been given a moment of attention by
society, Jesus gave them extreme attention and honor.
• He allowed women to support him, finance him and defend him.
• He received into his company and into his love the most despised of
women, like the Canaanite, the Syrophrenician, and the Samaritan!
• He allowed women to openly rebuke him in public. Martha rebuking
him for not telling her sister to help her.
• Women felt completely safe and loved in his presence.
• He did not prevent mothers from bringing their children to him to bless
and embrace them.
• He openly and lovingly welcomed and received the nobodies, the
unwanted, the unloved and the rejected people of society. Tax
collectors, women, children, sinners, the worldly and illiterate.
• He healed everyone that came to him for healing
• He associated with the least and the poorest of people ( he eats with
sinners and tax collectors)
• He truly cared for the people
• Children were not afraid of him
• He was known as a friend of sinners
• He rebuked the upper-class people and he acknowledged the lower
class people
Exs: people tear the roof open to let down the paralyzed
man and the owner of the house gets rebuked and the ones doing that
are blessed. The woman that put in less than one penny and all of the
others that put in an abundance of money
• He would not rush, even in the face of great pressure from the
religious people
• He was known by the people as someone that had true authority and
power, so much so that when an angry mob of demon possessed
people were going to throw him off the cliff- He walked right through
them!
